Frequently Asked Questions

How soon after Visudyne® therapy can I expect to see an improvement?

Visudyne therapy works by halting or slowing down the progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Some people do notice that their vision improves, while others find that their vision simply doesn't get any worse. But even if you don't notice a change, the treatment may still have worked. Visudyne can help preserve the vision that you do have.

What should I do if I miss a treatment?

Visudyne treatments are administered by your doctor. If you miss your appointment, call your doctor immediately to reschedule. A full course of photodynamic therapy may require several treatments to control your age-related macular degeneration.

Can I take an extra dose?

Your doctor will perform the therapy and will determine when the next treatment is needed.

Can I stop Visudyne therapy if I feel better?

Please be aware that a full course of treatment may require several visits. Speak with your doctor about whether you need continued treatment.
